A collection of plates that reproduces part of the paintings and drawings collected by the banker and art dealer Everhard Jabach. His collection, which brought together works from previous important collections such as that of the Ludovisi family and Charles I of England, merged on his death into that of Louis XIV and then subsequently to the Louvre. The engravings are the work of Corneille, Pene, Massé, Rousseau and others from paintings by Annibale Caracci (most of them), Titian, Poussin, Giulio Romano and others.
Oblong folio (330 x 500mm). Engraved title, 254 (of 262) plates, of which 27 with double illustrations (waterstaining in the upper external corner of the first leaves, mainly marginal browning and foxing, two plates with ancient attempts at painting). Contemporary binding in full leather, spine decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers (worn, covers detached and losses). Provenance: Grenville, 1773 (ownership inscription on title); Duke of Bedford (?) (erased inscription on endpaper).
