First Italian translation of the account of George Macartney's embassy on behalf of the British Crown to the Chinese imperial court. Although the British commercial requests were rejected, the mission managed to gather a wide range of informations about the country and the report written by Staunton is considered among the most extensive after those of the Jesuit missions of the previous centuries.

6 volumes, 8vo (185 x 110mm). 6 engraved frontispieces, an engraved plate and 3 folded maps (some spotting, in the sixth volume I1 bound by mistake at the end of the gathering).
