Mischtechnik auf Malkarton, Motiv: Heimkehr von der Fernfahrt - die Besatzung des U-Bootes gibt einem entgegenkommenden Zerstörer Flaggensignale während rechts Helgoland in Sicht kommt. Signiert "Claus Bergen", Maße ca. 58 x 43 cm, neuzeitlich gerahmt. Sehr selten.
Claus Friedrich Bergen (1885 - 1964) war ein deutscher Marine-, Luftfahrts- und Landschaftsmaler. Er wurde vor allem durch seine Bilder der Skagerrakschlacht bekannt. Als einziger Marinemaler seiner Zeit nahm er an den Feindfahrten eines U-Bootes (U-53) teil, was seine Bilder zu den bedeutensten Darstellungen dieser besonderen Waffe machte.

Claus Friedrich Bergen (1885 - 1964) was a German painter of naval and aviation scenes and landscapes. He became famous for his paintings of the Battle of Jutland. He was the only naval painter of his time to take part in submarine combat cruises (on board the U-53), thereby making his paintings the most significant illustrations of this military branch.
