A splendid complete set of Kate Greenaway's almanacs, very difficult to assemble in this condition and apparently done so at an early date by one Frederick Morkles. This lot is accompanied by an autograph letter signed by Kate Greenaway to Mr. Morkles, Hampstead, 28 November 1888, 3 pp, octavo, in which she supplies him with an autograph and her first almanac and provides a list of all of her books that she can remember to date. In part, "You ask the date of publication of the first Almanack, 1883. I have given one or two to different people, collectors of my books. Will you accept this[]" Also accompanying the set is her Calendar of the Seasons 1881.



Together, 21 volumes, 16mo and smaller, including variant issues for several years of the almanacs, present are:1883; 1884 (3 copies, wrappers, limp morocco, and limp cloth variants); 1885; 1886 (2 copies, green and cream cloth variants); 1887; 1888; 1889; 1890 (2 copies, green cloth and black board variants); 1891 (2 copies, green and red decorated board variants); 1892; 1893; 1894; 1895 (2 copies, board and cloth variants); and 1897. (No almanack was issued for the year 1896.) All illustrated and decorated in color by Kate Greenaway. Original bindings; 9 volumes with original dust jackets (expected small chips to jackets). The whole enclosed in a gilt tooled trunk-shaped morocco case. Provenance: Frederick Morkles (correspondence) – Efram Zimbalist (his sale, Parke-Bernet, 15-16 November 1939) – M.C. Gaines 1894-1947, the comic book pioneer (bookplate to case).

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
