Fifth and sixth parts of the first edition of the series of volumes investigating the nature of the state of New York, a research undertaken in 1836 by the New York State Museum, which deals with mollusks and crustaceans in the area.

2 parts in one volume, folio (289 x 230mm). Title with fine woodcut arms, 40 hand-colored plates of mollusks (two browned), 13 hand-colored plates of crustaceans (one browned, very light spotting, browning and scattered stains). Contemporary canvas with arabesques in bas-relief on the front and rear cover, large golden shell in the center, gilt title on spine (lightly rubbed).
