Four fragments of a work De Poenitentia in Latin, manuscript on vellum [France, 9th century].
Written in Caroline minuscule in its pure early Carolingian form, with rubrics in elegant Rustic Capitals.
Each c.50 × 120mm, apparently from top, middle, and bottom of a single leaf (preserving parts of the upper and lower margins) originally measuring approximately 200 × 120mm, each with 3–8 lines of text in Caroline minuscule or rubrics in rustic capitals, parts of the text based on Ambrose, De Poenitentia, the rubrics including section numbers ‘XXII’, ‘XXIII’, and ‘XXIIII’, the script marked by heavy strokes on ascenders, oc ‘a’ present after ‘r’, ‘d’ is always upright, bowl of ‘g’ is open with jagged descender, capital uncial ‘n’ (recovered from use as a spine-lining, each with three cut-outs for the sewing-bands, worn and stained, but substantially legible)

(2) Colker MS 358; acquired in 1985 from Maggs.
