Édition originale du premier ouvrage illustré par Maurice Denis. Gide fit appel à lui après avoir vu ses dessins exécutés deux ans auparavant pour Sagesse de Paul Verlaine, qui ne paraîtront que deux décennies plus tard.

Illustré de 30 lithographies originales à deux teintes par Maurice Denis, dont une reproduite en noir sur la couverture. Feuillet de catalogue de la Librairie de l’art indépendant relié en fin d’ouvrage. Reliure signée René Kieffer : demi-maroquin prune à bandes courbes ornées de deux rangs de spirales à froid, dos lisse lettré d’or, contreplats et gardes de papier marbré, couverture et dos conservés, tête dorée sur témoins. (Dos insolé, légèrement frotté tout comme les coins, infimes piqûres, légers reports).

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
