First edition of a comprehensive study of the iconography of the myths of Achilles, Orestes and Odysseus. Raoul-Rochette was an art historian and archaeologist and Keeper of Medals at the French Royal Library, who wrote and published on Greek vase painting. Folio (531 x 350mm). 94 lithographic and engraved plates, one of which hand-coloured and 4 colour-printed, 15 lithographic and engraved vignettes, two of which hand-coloured (lacks pl. 69 but with duplicate pl. 33 loosely inserted in its place, some light spotting). Contemporary red morocco-backed boards, spine ruled and lettered in gilt and blind (extremities lightly rubbed).
