George Dixon (+ 1800) served under Captain Cook in his third Expedition, and was afterwards captain in the Royal Navy. In the autumn of 1785-1788, he led, together with Nathaniel Portlock in command of the HMS King George and HMS Queen Charlotte, in the service of society, King George's Sound Company of London. In the summers of 1786 and 1787, he explored the coasts of present-day British Columbia (Canada). He spent a Winter on the Hawaiian Islands, where he was the first European who visited the island of Molokai.
