A triangular Italian Renaissance box made of embossed and carved leather, dated 1599
Dark leather with relief decoration of lions and mythical creatures amidst leafy vines. Two vertical eyelets for a carrying cord on each side. The date and location "1599 Padua" chiselled into the base. Remnants of the old silk lining on the inside. Height 7.5 x 9.5 x 9.5 cm.
Enclosed is an old inventory label from the exhibition "Esposizione di pelli e cuoi lavarati a mano" of the "Società degli Amici di Castel S. Angelo" in Rome.

Dunkles Leder mit reliefiertem Dekor aus Löwen und Fabelwesen zwischen Blattranken. Je zwei vertikal angebrachte Durchzüge für eine Tragekordel auf jeder Seite. Boden mit eingeschnittener Datierung und Ortsangabe "1599 Padua". Im Inneren Reste des alten Seidenbezugs. Höhe 7,5 x 9,5 x 9,5 cm.
Beiliegend ein altes Inventaretikett der Ausstellung "Esposizione di pelli e cuoi lavarati a mano" der "Società degli Amici di Castel S. Angelo" in Rom.
