Exemplaire du tirage de luxe, avec les planches aquarellées, en maroquin rouge de l’époque, de cet ouvrage somptueux. L’exemplaire comprend le portrait de Marie-Antoinette qui manque parfois. Parmi les autres personnages représentés figurent notamment Louis XVI, Mahomet II, Henry VIII, Christine de Suède, des dignitaires comme le Mufti, le grand prêtre Persan, le Lama tartare, le grand Lama, le Brahman, le grand Vizir, l'émir Pacha, Tchorbadgi, Boluch-Bassi, Oliver Cromwell, un Shogun japonais, une dame d'Hindoustan, un Patagon, une femme caraïbe, Alkmey (roi de la Guinée), un noble Indien de la nation d'Ottawa, une femme du Kamchatka, une femme du Congo, Samba Pango (roi du Loango).
Cet exemplaire, relié à l'époque en maroquin rouge, provient de la bibliothèque de Charles Van Hulthem homme politique et grand bibliophile belge : une grande partie de sa collection sera acquise "en bloc" et sera l'un des noyaux originels de la Bibliothèque royale de Belgique.

In-folio (400 x 260 mm). Titre, dédicace et avertissement imprimés, 240 eaux-fortes (sur 264) par Pierre Duflos, Mme Duflos et Marillier d'après Jean Touzé, toutes finement aquarellées et encadrées d’un filet doré. Trois planches présentent une légende manuscrite sous la légende imprimée dont une avec la mention manuscrite : « a Paris chez Duflos / A P D R ». La planche n°6 porte au verso la signature autographe de Duflos. Serpentes d’origine conservées (sans le feuillet de dédicace à la noblesse et les feuillets de texte). Reliure de l'époque : maroquin rouge, triple filet doré en encadrement, larges fers en écoinçons, dos à nerfs, caissons ornés, pièce de titre de maroquin vert, gardes de papier bleu, tranches dorées (petit accroc au plat supérieur, usures et restaurations aux charnières, et petite usure à la coiffe de queue, quelques frottements et restaurations aux coins).

First of all, you should register to be able to purchase at auction. After confirming your email address, enter your personal information in your user profile, such as your first name, last name, and mail address. Choose a lot from the upcoming auction and the maximum amount you want to place on it. After confirmation of your choice, we will send your application by e-mail to the appropriate auction house. If the auction house accepts a request, it will participate in the auction. You can view the current status of a bid at any time in your personal account in the "Bids" section.
Auctions are performed by auction houses and each of the auction houses describes their terms of auction. You can see the texts in the section "Auction information".
The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
