A fine copy in an elegant red morocco binding of this rich and detailed account of the history of Boxing in England between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The author draws short biographies for each boxer and describes the matches with journalistic precision.

First volume: frontispiece, engraved title, 19 plates, some folding - second volume: portrait on frontispiece, 5 plates - third volume: portrait on frontispiece, 6 plates - fourth volume: portrait on frontispiece, 7 plates (the volumes are apparently complete and the plates correspond to those mentioned in the index, however there is no list of plates for the first volume, slight sporadic spotting). Provenance: Oliver Belmont (armorial bookplate). (4)
