A pair of flintlock rifles by Caspar Zellner, Vienna, circa 1730/40
Octagonal barrels slightly indented in the middle with seven-groove rifled bores in 14 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights, engraved signature at the breeches. Finely engraved lock plates with hunting scenes, signed "Caspar Zellner in Wienn". Set triggers. Slightly carved full stocks of finely grained walnut wood with noses of dark horn. A clamp at the diopter base cracked on one side. Furniture of engraved brass with embedded diopter bases. Patch boxes with spring-loaded sliding lids. Wooden ramrods with horn tips. Length of each 114.5 cm.
Caspar Zellner (1661 – 1745) became master in 1695 and worked in Salzburg and Vienna.
