A deluxe flintlock rifle by Johann Wagner, Kronach, circa 1720
Octagonal Damascus barrel slightly indented in the middle with eight-groove rifled bore in 13 mm calibre. The upper side richly inlaid with silver scrollwork and garlands, at the breech a female portrait head. Brass and steel dovetailed sights, gold-lined vent hole. Engraved and cut flintlock, the brass-plated lock plate with finely cut appliqués in the shape of trophy bundles with goddess of victory and lion. Signed "I.W. á Cronach". underneath the frizzen spring. Lock side plate of engraved brass, set trigger. Lavishly carved walnut wood full stock with nose of dark horn. Engraved brass furniture, patch box, the spring-loaded sliding lid with star-shaped inlay of fruitwood and mother-of-pearl. The cheek rest equally inlaid with fruitwood, horn and mother-of-pearl. Original wooden ramrod with horn tip. Length 76.5 cm.
Johann Wagner spent his apprenticeship in Vienna and was recorded as gunsmith in Kronach between 1687 and 1726.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
