signed, numbered and stamped with the foundry mark 'E. ANTOINE BOURDELLE (6) CIRE PERDUE A.A. HÉBRARD (6)' (on the side of the base); inscribed 'Moi je suis Bacchus qui pressure pour les hommes, le nectar délicieux Beethoven.' (on the front of the base)
bronze with dark brown patina
height (including bases): 27 1/8 in. (68.8 cm.)
Conceived in 1901; this version cast in bronze by A. A. Hébrard

Private collection, Europe, acquired directly from the above in the 1950s, and thence by descent to the present owners.
