Précieux témoignage de l'amitié entre Érasme et Basile Amerbach, frère du juriste et humaniste Boniface (1495-1562). Il semble que le billet s'intègre dans un échange de lettres au sujet du filleul d'Érasme (né en 1516), fils de l'imprimeur Johann Froben et baptisté Johannes Erasmius. Érasme est en désaccord avec les parents de son filleul - il souhaite qu'il étudie à Louvain, eux préfèrent l'envoyer à Lyon apprendre le métier d'imprimeur avec Melchior Trechsel. On prétend ensuite qu'il sera envoyé à Paris ; mais en réalité, le garçon reste à Bâle. Érasme souhaite que son ami le renseigne sur ce que décideront les Froben, sur ce qu'il se trame à Bâle, et qu'il lui rende visite dans les mois qui viennent. Le reste de la correspondance montre que Amerbach a effectivement approché les Froben, pour essayer d'influer sur leur décision.
Contemporary copy, by Basilius Amerbach (Bonifacius' brother), of a letter sent to him by Erasmus. The letter, from which the casual tone reveals the friendship between the two men, mostly deals with Erasmus' godson, who also happens to be Johann Froben's son.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
