Presentation copy of the first edition in an excellent unrestored dust-jacket. Inscribed by the author to her secretary, amanuensis and close friend Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher: ‘Carlo from Agatha’. A wonderful association copy. Hubin p. 80.



Octavo. 3 pages of publisher’s advertisements at end. Original orange cloth, spine lettered in black (spine sunned, top edges of boards dust-stained, edges faintly spotted, extremities slightly rubbed); original dust-jacket priced 7s. 6d. supplied from another copy (inch long closed tear to upper panel, chipped with a little loss at head and foot of spine and folds, slightly discoloured and toned). Provenance: Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher (1895-1976, secretary, amanuensis and close friend of Agatha Christie; inscribed by the author on front free endpaper, and with Fisher’s posthumous book label).
