Agatha Christie

CHRISTIE, Agatha (1890-1976). Sad Cypress. London: for The Crime Club by Collins, 1940.

Presentation copy of the first edition in a near-fine dust-jacket, inscribed by the author to her secretary, amanuensis and close friend Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher: ‘With love from Agatha’. A wonderful association copy. Hubin p. 80.

Octavo. 4 pages of publisher’s advertisements at end. Original orange cloth, spine lettered in black (spine sunned, top edges of boards dust-stained, edges faintly spotted, extremities slightly rubbed); original dust-jacket priced 8/3 supplied from another copy (neatly strengthened on the reverse at head and foot of spine and ends of folds, small section at head of spine expertly restored just touching the first letter of the title). Provenance: Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher (1895-1976, secretary, amanuensis and close friend of Agatha Christie; presentation inscription by the author on front free endpaper, and with Fisher’s posthumous book label).
