Un des rares exemplaires sur Chine, cité par Carteret, enrichi d'une émouvante lettre autographe de l'auteur à sa femme. Il évoque la réception de son roman récemment paru, sans doute Le secret du bonheur : "Vois maintenant comment cela m'a réussi d'écrire un roman soi-disant moral. Depuis un mois qu'il est publié, pas une ligne de critique n'a été faite sur lui. Ne voulant jamais me louer, les frêlons de la presse se préparent à m'enterrer, et mes amis rougissent de moi, ce qui me fait rire. Dorénavant, je ferai ce que j'aurais dû toujours faire, à savoir : suivre ma fantaisie" et lui exprime sa tendresse : "je passe mes jours et mes nuits à penser à toi, à ta jolie petite bouche, à ta taille de sylphide, à tout enfin ce qui me charme en toi. Jamais tu n'a été autant désirée que tu l'es, physiquement et moralement. Je me déssèche, je me consume. Et toi, petite carafe de neige, comment fais-tu ?" Applaudi par Sainte-Beuve à sa parution, Fanny pâtit de la mauvaise réception des autres romans de l'auteur. Fernand Vandérem consacra un article à l'ouvrage dans la rubrique "Les livres négligés" de La bibliophilie nouvelle : "le livre brûle d'une telle flamme, est animé d'une telle sincérité et décrit le martyre du héros en traits si saisissants et si justes qu'il ne tardera pas, je pense, à reprendre le rang qui lui est dû parmi les chefs-d'oeuvre de notre roman psychologique, à côté de La Princesse de Clèves et d'Adolphe." Enrichi d'une lettre autographe signée d'Ernest Feydeau à sa femme, datée 28 juillet [circa 1864 ?], 4 pp. à l'encre sur bi-feuillet, reliée en début d'ouvrage. Reliure signée Marius Michel : maroquin fauve, encadrement de filets dorés et listel de maroquin vert, dos à nerfs reprenant le décor des plats, doublure de maroquin grège orné d'une guirlande florale mosaïquée de maroquin orange et entournée d'un listel de maroquin brun avec points de maroquin fauve mosaïqués aux angles, gardes de soie brochée vert amande et or, tranches dorées sur témoins.

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
