Versailles brought its interior decoration in conversation with extensive and intentionally designed landscapes. Vegetal and floral motifs outgrew the garden to adorn the architectural decoration of the late Baroque and early Rococo from France and Italy to the British Isles. The cornerstone of Mrs. Wrightsman’s collection were these garden-influenced objects, which brought nature back into her Fifth Avenue apartment.
