Aquarell mit Weißhöhung, rechts unten signiert und datiert "G. Wolf - Chevreux 1915". Eindrucksvolle Szene mit zwei Soldaten auf Posten am Hügel, einem weiteren an der seitlichen Befestigung sowie drei feldgrauen vor einem Bunkereingang sitzend. Rückseitig zusätzlich betitelt "Am Chemin du Dames - France". Bildmaße 34 x 49 cm. In Passepartout mit gedruckten Lebensdaten Wolfs, unter Glas und in Holzrahmen, Rahmenmaße 64 x 80,5 cm. Dazu "Georg Wolf 1882 - 1962 Düsseldorf-Uelzen - Meisterschüler der Düsseldorfer Akademie", Wolter/Sabatier o.J., mit dem Werkverzeichnis Wolfs. Dieses Bild mit einer S/W-Abb. unter der Werknummer 1527 gelistet.
Georg Wolf studiert 1906-08 an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie und wird Meisterschüler von Julius Paul Junghanns. Während seines Einsatzes als Soldat im Ersten Weltkrieg entstehen zahlreiche Werke vom Alltagsleben deutscher Soldaten an der Front. Zwischen 1914 und 1941 stellt er siebenmal im Münchner Glaspalast aus, wird 1934 Mitglied der Reichskulturkammer und ist auf den Großen Deutschen Kunstausstellungen von 1937 bis 1941 vertreten.
