Porcelain, white. Life-size figure of a Pelican, a fish devouring. The attitude of the animal can be
suspect that it is shown floating in the water. Height 73cm, length 78cm.
Sword brand with 4 grinding strokes, dies for white goods, 76006, Bossierernr. 149, year, characters for 1977. Condition C.

The "spoonful of goose" is a Prime example for the functioning Kaendlers. In the attempt of a fish to devour, inclined back of the large bird with his head far. The neck is bent in a dynamic movement, eyes wide open. Every Detail, whether it be the Feathers, the scales of the fish or the structure of the skin of the Kehlsackes, is carefully studied. The Kaendler common representation, of the with its prey, employees of a bird, combines the lifelike appearance of the animal with the Demonstration of the artistic skills of the Modeller.
In fact, it is occupied by an image of Matthew Merian, which is located in Dresden's kupferstichkabinett, the existence of a Pelican in the Dresden zoo. The figure is titled "a big spoonful of goose in Dresden, Königl. To see fish subsoil 1728". It is therefore well possible, that a living example of the exotic bird Kaendler served as a model for his plastic
