Guardi schuf zwischen ca. 1766 -1775 einen Gemäldezyklus der „Dogenfeste“ (Le Solennità Dogali),
in denen er feierliche Staatsakte schilderte, die dem politischen Leben der Republik in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten vor ihrem Ende im Jahr 1797 Glanz verliehen. Der Zyklus basiert auf der Stichserie von Giambattista Brustolon, der diese nach Vorlagen von Antonio Canal, gen. Canaletto ausführte, wobei sich zum vorliegenden Motiv eine Zeichnung Guardis erhalten hat (San Francisco, Fine Art Museum), in der er mit schwungvollen Federstrichen wohl die Umwandlung von Brustolons Bildpersonal in seinen eigenen Stil vorbereitet. Die zwölfteilige Serie Guardis war von 1811-1819 im Louvre ausgestellt, von der sich heute noch zehn Gemälde im Louvre befinden. Das vorliegende Gemälde stellt eine formatverkleinerte und leicht variierte Fassung des Gemäldes „L‘udienza agli Ambasciatori nella Sala del Collegio di Palazzo Ducale“ dar (Inv. 325) und bildet das Thema der elften Leinwand des Zyklus. Es zeigt den Moment, in dem der Doge im Beisein der Signoria einem ausländischen Gesandten eine Audienz gewährt, wobei sich die überwiegend dunkle Kleidung der Besucher stark kontrastierend von den roten Amtsroben der auf der Tribuna sitzenden Prokuratoren und Regierungsmitglieder abhebt. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
