Lot 4040 | Heinrich Himmler - eigenhändiges Gedicht und Unterschrift sowie Widmungen seiner Brüder Gebhard und Ernst im Poesiealbum der Schulfreundin Ina von Pracher vom 13. Januar 1915
Estimate value
€ 5 500
Die Einträge der Gebrüder Himmler aus dem Januar 1915, beginnend mit Gebhard und einem Aquarell "Landshut, Burg Trausnitz", "Der lieben Ina zur freundlichen Erinnerung gez. von Gebhard Himmler. Landshut, den 12.I.1915".
Heinrich Himmler – a handwritten and signed poem as well as dedications by his brothers Gebhard and Ernst in the poetry album of his school friend, Ina von Pracher, dated 13 January 1915
Dark brown leather binding embellished with gold lines on the front, the spine somewhat faded and slightly damaged. Gilt-edged pages, the first page labelled "Album Ina v. Pracher" in watercolour with floral décor. In total, 44 entries between 1914 and 1926, not in chronological order, including her schoolteachers and classmates from when she left Munich in 1914, likewise from her new home in Landshut and from the 1920s, such as on her departure from Landshut. Dimensions of the album 20 x 13 x 2 cm.
The entries of the Himmler brothers are dated January 1915, beginning with Gebhard and a watercolour of "Landshut, Burg Trausnitz", (tr.) "To my dear Ina in heartfelt remembrance, signed Gebhard Himmler. Landshut, 12 January 1915". Painted views of "K. Residenz" and "St. Martin" in ink and coloured pencil by Gebhard on the following page, along with a poem by Friedrich Rückert, signed "Gebhard Himmler".
The next page featuring a poem by Heinrich Himmler, written in calligraphy (tr.), "Forever merry is dangerous, Forever sad is onerous, Forever happy is impossible, Yet one by one tolerable – Dedicated in remembrance to my dear Ina from Heinrich Himmler – Landshut, 23.I.1915".
Another poem on the following page (probably written by Mrs Himmler) with the dedication (tr.) "In heartfelt remembrance of your little friend Ernst Himmler - Landshut, 23.I.1915".
In autumn 1913, Joseph Gebhard Himmler (1865 - 1936) who taught at Ludwigsgymnasium in Munich, was appointed deputy head of the classical grammar school (Gymnasium) in Landshut and his two oldest sons, 15-year old Gebhard and 13-year old Heinrich, followed him to the Gymnasium.
According to the chronology of the Himmler entries, Ina von Pracher would appear to have been a classmate of Gebhard Himmler. She arrived in Landshut one year after the Himmler brothers when her father, the Bavarian administrative official Ferdinand von Pracher (1860 - 1923), was promoted to Regional President of Lower Bavaria, with its seat in Landshut, in 1914. Accordingly, the farewell messages from Munich are dated summer 1914, while those from Landshut date from the period after her father's death in 1923.
To the best of our knowledge, these are the earliest autographs of Heinrich Himmler and his brothers Gebhard Ludwig (1898 - 1982, a member of the NSDAP and the SS, lastly in the rank of Standartenführer) and Ernst (1905 - 1945, killed in action as a Volkssturm member, likewise a member of the NSDAP and the SS).
Provenance: Consigned from the von Pracher family estate.
