Hoffmann, Josef (Pirnitz, 1870 - Wien, 1956): So-called Purkersdorfer armchair, designed in 1903 for the Wiener Werkstätten. Originally intended for the Klimt exhibition in the Vienna Secession, but then used as seating in the entrance hall of the Purkersdorf sanatorium near Vienna. Execution: Wittmann, Etsdorf am Kamp/ Austria, 1980s. Cubic shape made of strut frame in beech wood with white varnish and a belted seat with a chessboard pattern, loose back cushion.
