Première édition de la célèbre Danse des morts de Holbein sous la forme d'un ouvrage.
Les 41 bois gravés qui ornent le volume avaient été tirés à Bâle dès 1530, mais n'avaient jamais été réunis en recueil. Le collaborateur bâlois de Holbein, Hans Lützelburger, exécute ici les gravures d'après les dessins de son maître (voir son monogramme "HL" au f. 28). La première réunion en série de ces images à la fois glaçantes et teintées d'humour confère toute son importance à ce qui allait devenir l'un des livres illustrés les plus célèbres de la Renaissance.
L'exemplaire provient de la célèbre bibliothèque de l'entrepreneur, philanthrope et bibliophile Charles WIlliam Dyson Perrins.

Petit in-4 (176 x 121 mm). Première édition. 52 ff. 41 xylographies originales. Quatrains et épître en français attribués à Jean de Vauzelles ou Gilles Corrozet. Reliure signée Trautz-Bauzonnet : maroquin brun, grand fleuron central sur les plats, dos à nerfs, caissons ornés, contreplats et gardes de papier marbré, roulette dorée intérieure, filets sur les coupes, tranches dorées (petites taches d’encre en marge inférieure des ff. 4 v. et 5 r., reliure frottée, un accroc sur le premier plat).
Provenance : Charles William Dyson Perrins (1864-1958) – Sam Josefowitz, Pully – puis par descendance aux propriétaires actuels.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
