Tempera/Öl auf Holz. Punzierter Goldgrund mit plastischem Dekor. Darstellung 57 x 45,5 cm (mit spitzbogigem Abschluss). Diese in hochrechteckige Rahmung eingesetzt (62 x 51 cm) cm. Rest. Besch. Zeitlich später zu datierender Ädikularahmen, schwarz und gold gefasst, mit Einlagen aus Perlmutt und wohl Lapisilazuli sowie späterem Lorbeerstabornament, besch. (94 x 86,5 cm).

Die Darstellung Mariens mit dem Kind und den Engeln folgt dem Typus der "Madonna dellUmiltà", der im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert verbreitet war. Diese "Madonna der Demut" zeigt sich uns nicht thronend, sondern auf der blanken Erde sitzend. Der Mantel Mariens ist reich goldornamentiert, der Faltenwurf des Mantelsaumes phantasiereich und symmetrisch wiedergegeben. Hierin gibt es Parallelen zum Schaffen des Pietro di Domenico da Montepulciano (tätig um 1420 in den Marken). Bezüglich des ornamentierten Mantels Mariens lassen sich wiederum Vergleiche mit Werken des deutlich älteren Vitale da Bologna (1289 - 1361) und des Jacobello di Bonomo (tätig 1370 - 1390) ziehen.

In der Lünette des Ädikularahmens befindet sich die Darstellung eines heiligen Eremiten vor seiner Felsenhöhle.
