Hybrid NFT (NFT + Drawing)
"Secret Window of Signs: With a Lost Silence" is Johanna Reich's first Art NFT. In addition, the collector will receive the physical sister work to the NFT.
"With a Lost Silence" refers to the Japanese wabi-sabi concept, which deals with the unique beauty of imperfection and implies the idea of becoming independent of possessions. What do we perceive when we see a digital image? What do we own when we buy data? Where does immateriality begin?
A digital image consists of code that we do not normally see. It is written in a language that most of us cannot read. Coding means giving commands to a computer. Poems are written quite differently: A poem creates emotional images and creates a mood. But poems can also be "coded" these days.
Johanna Reich created an image as NFT that you can't see (anymore): For this purpose, she first created an image in Photoshop and wrote a four-line poem on the subject of NFTs with the help of an AI. She then added the poem to the image code. In the process, the poetic lines destroyed the code. The jpg still exists, but can no longer be opened, it is no longer visible.
The collector of the NFT also receives a visible, imperfect and unique trace of the non-visible image: the handwritten code on Wenzhou-Paper, in which the poem can also be found.
