Hybrid NFT (NFT + Physical object that plays another NFT)
For the first time, Nicole Ruggiero offers 2 NFTs with a physical object. The buyer will receive the NFT "CERTIFIED PUNK!" together with the NFT "CryptoPrompts", which is a sister work played on a retro computer.
"CERTIFIED PUNK!" (NFT) is a motion capture and animation loop and was created in 2021. It boasts an avatar-like being throwing up an Ethereum sign on a graffitied, garbage-laced street. The being kicks an old PC, which glitches out and displays a popular Twitter hashtag - #HODL, known to the Web 3.0 community as holding cryptocurrency and NFTs, rather than selling them. Stickers that picture a handful of CryptoPunks line the street, the holders of which were popular on Twitter at the time of creation. The retro PC signifies a simpler time of Web 1.0, which has some significant qualities in common with the current Web 3.0 space: freedom, agency, & anonymity. Both spaces have even been compared to the wild, wild west. Dreaming of a less corporatized, politicized digital environment, CryptoPunks symbolize the hopes of a group of Web 3.0 "punks" who long for communities with the ability to self-govern and self-sustain (at least financially) through decentralization. However free, some question whether or not Web 3.0 really provides freedom from the banks and Web 2.0 corporations that it sets out to extinguish. Displayed as a tongue in cheek reflection of the Web 3.0 space, "CERTIFIED PUNK!" brings into question whether or not blockchain technology has been successful in defeating the systems it sets out to beat.
As a physical counterpart, the buyer receives the old computer from the days of Web 1.0 depicted in the NFT's video "CERTIFIED PUNK!" which plays the AI-generated video "CryptoPrompts" (NFT) as a sister work. "CryptoPrompts" is a video loop of an AI-generated artwork and distorts various CryptoPunk PNGs, produced by prompting two different kinds of Artificial Intelligences with idealistic, random, & sometimes meaningless keywords. The entire library of 10,000 CryptoPunks was downloaded and each Punk was chosen to feed into the AI at random, mirroring the luck and chaos of the Web 3.0 space. "CryptoPrompts" uses some of today's newest technology and is meant to be displayed on a retro PC and CRT monitor, referencing the web's lineage. Created as a sister piece to "CERTIFIED PUNK!", "CryptoPrompts" invites the viewer to question the success of Web 3.0's goal - to create a less corporatized and politicized digital environment through decentralization.
Payment also possible with the cryptocurrency Ether (ETH).
