Korpus aus grauem Tuch mit Vorstößen und Besatzstreifen aus kornblumenblauem Tuch, Besatzstreifen beidseitig eingefasst von versilberter Plattschnur (berieben), stirnseitig die Offizierskokarde aus versilbertem Buntmetall (berieben). Lederner Schirm (krakeliert, Druckstellen) und lederner Sturmriemen. Graues Leinenfutter mit Größenetikett "56", weiches ockerfarbenes Lederschweißband. Vereinzelt berieben, partiell fleckig, Trage- und Altersspuren. Schöne altersgemäße Erhaltung. Sehr selten.
Das Käppi wurde 1894 durch eine Schirmmütze mit rundem Deckel abgelöst.

A cap for officers of the Schutztruppe in German South-West Africa, circa 1890
Body of grey cloth with cornflower blue pipings and hatband, the hatband trimmed on both sides with silver-plated bullion cord (rubbed), the obverse with the officer's cockade of silver-plated non-ferrous metal (rubbed). Leather peak (brittle, dents) and leather chinstrap. Grey linen lining with size "56", soft ochre leather sweatband. Rubbed in places, partially spotted, signs of usage and age. Well preserved for the age. Very rare.
The cap was replaced by a round-topped peaked cap in 1894.
