Post lot text
Keith Sonnier is an American artist who belongs to the post-minimalism movement. Sharing the anti-illusionism of Carl Andre, Dan Flavin or Sol LeWitt, he nevertheless seeks a more marked form of narration and expressiveness in his works. Reinventing sculpture with new materials and experimenting with new forms, he is one of the first artists to integrate light into his work, notably by creating curved neons from the late 1960's. The MoMA in New York devoted a first exhibition to him in 1971, allowing the artist to design an interactive visit with the public, thanks to visual, light and sound installations. A few years later, in 1979, the Centre Pompidou held a solo exhibition of Keith Sonnier's work.
