Knochen (Bein), im Relief geschnitzt; Holz und Ebenholz(?) mit geometrischen Filets in teils gefärbtem Knochen; der Korpus beschlagen mit braunem Leder. Das Triptychon mit Spitzgiebel, das zentrale Feld zeigt die stehende Maria mit Kind vor einem hohen, runden Turm (wohl das Himmlische Jerusalem symbolisierend), flankiert von zwei großen, adorierenden Engeln. In den beiden Flügeln Darstellungen der Apostel Paulus und Petrus vor gleichartigen Türmen. Offen 18 cm x 21,3 cm; 18 cm x 10,3 cm.
Der hier vorliegende Haus- oder Reisealtar dürfte um 1400-1425 in den florierenden Werkstätten der Embriachi in Venedig entstanden sein, wo vorwiegend kleine Objekte wie Kämme, kleine Altäre, Spiegelrahmen und vor allem Minnekästen und Brautkästen aus Bein herstellt wurden. Hiermit erlangten sie Ende 14. und Anfang des 15. Jhs. eine Vorrangstellung und weite Bekanntheit, ihre Arbeiten fanden Eingang in Kunst- und Wunderkammern, französische und oberitalienische Werkstätten adaptierten ihren Stil.
Mehrere vergleichbare Altäre befinden sich im Victoria & Albert Museum in London, weitere u. a. im Tiroler Landesmuseum in Innsbruck (siehe E. von Philippovich: "Elfenbein", Braunschweig 1961, S. 77, Nr. 59), im Museo Civico von Catania "Castello Ursino" (Inv.-Nr. 6384).

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
