Das 1922 entstandene, noch im impressionistischen Stil gemalte, einfühlsame Brustbildnis des kleinen Kindes im Dreiviertelprofil entstand zur selben Zeit, als Schwitters bereits zu einem der wichtigsten Dada-Künstler geworden war. Es zeigt den 1921 geborenen, gleichnamigen Sohn des bedeutenden hannoverschen Verlegers und Buchhändlers Ludwig Ey (1887 - 1868), mit dem Schwitters gut bekannt war. Schwitters studierte 1909-1914 an der Akademie in Dresden bei den Impressionisten Carl Bantzer, Gottfried Kuehl und Emanuel Hegenbarth. 1918 lernte er Herwarth Walden kennen und stellte in dessen "Sturm"-Galerie in Berlin aus. Schwitters schloss sich den Dadaisten an, wurde Initiator einer Dada-Gruppe in Hannover. 1919 erfand Schwitters die revolutionäre "Merz"-Kunst und den zugehörigen Begriff "Merz" für seine Collage- und Assemblage-Technik, später erweitert auf sein dadaistisches, konstruktives "Gesamtweltbild". Im selben Jahr zeigte Schwitters sein erstes "Merz-Bild" in der "Sturm"-Galerie, seit 1923 erschienen seine eigene "MERZ"-Zeitschriften- und Mappenreihe, zugleich begann er mit seinem "Merzbau" als Collage-Raum-Skulptur in seiner Wohnung in Hannover. In den Jahren 1920-1923 arbeitete Schwitters u. a. mit den Dadaisten Hans Arp, Raoul Hausmann, Hannah Höch und Tristan Tzara zusammen, außerdem mit den Konstruktivisten Theo van Doesburg und El Lissitzky. Von den Nationalsozialisten als "entartet" verfemt, emigrierte Schwitters 1937 nach Norwegen und floh 1940 nach England. Öl/Karton. 38 cm x 33 cm. Rahmen.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
