Lot 5675 | Leni Riefenstahl - 72 persönliche Briefe an Anders Lembcke und zwölf Postkarten, 1947 - 1951
Estimate value
€ 5 000
72 letters and twelve postcards, dating from 1947 and 1951, all handwritten, some of them type-written and signed by Leni and addressed to Anders, DIN A4 format, some smaller, partially several pages or double-sided, punched. The first letter from 09.01.1947, the last letter from 06.02.1951, written in a very candid and authentic style. Leni presents herself in her letters as a multi-faceted personality, expressing her feelings and longing for her lover.
After getting divorced from her husband Peter Jacob in the early summer of 1947, Leni Riefenstahl met a new and to date undocumented romantic interest, Anders Lembcke. The letters reflect the difficult post-war era, inner conflicts, Leni's uncertainty, existential fears, her desire to love, to live life to the fullest, and her unwavering faith to realise her dreams. Offered for the first time for sale, these sensitive and emotional letters give new insights into the private life of Leni Riefenstahl.
