Très bel exemplaire à toutes marges du tirage de luxe de format grand in-folio, imprimé sur papier vélin. Jacques Barraband fut certainement l'un des meilleurs peintres d'histoire naturelle de son temps et illustra de nombreux ouvrages ornithologiques dont un chapitre de la Description de l'Egypte. Les faux-titres indiquent que "toutes les figures de cet ouvrage ont été dessinées d'après nature par Barraband peintre, gravees par Pereée, et Gremilliet, et imprimées en couleurs par Langlois et Rousset". Les planches sont d'ailleurs imprimées grace au nouveau procédé dit "à la poupee", inventé par Henri-Joseph Redouté, qui permettait d'appliquer directement les couleurs sur les plaques de cuivre pour tirer les planches en un seul passage (et non par un passage pour chaque couleur). On trouve, encartée dans le premier volume, une liste manuscrite "Des principaux souscripteurs" à cette edition prestigieuse, où l'on rencontre les noms de hauts dignitaires de l'epoque en France (l'Empereur, Lucien Bonaparte, Talleyrand, le maréchal Berthier), en Allemagne (l'Empereur, le comte de Starhemberg, le duc de Brunswick), en Russie (l'Empereur, le comte Demidoff, le comte Woronzoff) et en Angleterre (le roi Georges, le prince de Galles, Lord Seymour). The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
