Private collection Bavaria.
The luxurious lifestyle of the 18th century French aristocracy demanded representation as a sign of power. Therefore, this version of the classic French chest of drawers was very popular.
Many ebenists of the time used the basic structure of a curved corpus with three or two drawers and harmonious proportions and varied it. Thus, designs ranged from plain to lavish bronze fittings, in varying geometric inlays, or from short to slightly taller, more slender legs.
