Rarissime édition originale, en demi-reliure monogrammée de l'époque. Sans famille conte les pérégrinations et les rencontres de Rémi, enfant abandonné, vendu par ses parents adoptifs au musicien ambulant Vitalis, à l'âge de huit ans. Rémi se met alors en quête de sa mère : il parcourera toute la France et traversera la Manche pour la retrouver.
Grand roman-feuilleton autant que récit initiatique, Sans famille paraît d'abord dans Le Siècle, avant que l'éditeur Édouard Dentu ne rachète les droits pour publier l'édition originale.
Cet ouvrage, sans nul doute le plus célèbre d'Hector Malot, a connu une postérité inattendue et qui ne se dément pas, avec plus d'une demi-douzaine d'adaptations cinématographiques et autant en séries télévisées. Un long-métrage, et, pour les lecteurs et spectateurs français surtout, une série d'animation japonaise (Ie Naki Ko) en 1977, sont parmi les plus célèbres.
L'édition originale du roman semble d'une rareté extraordinaire :
- Elle n'est pas mentionnée par les bibliographies de référence : absente de Clouzot ; Vicaire (V, col. 482) ne mentionne que la première édition illustrée (1880).
- Elle est absente du CCFR.
- La BnF ne conserve que la troisième édition (1879). Pas d'exemplaires en France.
- Worldcat ne recense que deux exemplaires de cette édition en institution : La Haye, Koninklijke Bibliotheek ; cote : Magazijn 4-1211 et Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen.
- Aucun exemplaire dans les bases de données de ventes aux enchères.

The extremely scarce first edition of Hector Malot's Sans Famille, a novel famously adapted dozen of times as movies and TV series, including a 1977-1978 Japanese anime series. No copies are seemingly recorded at auction, and only 2 copies are located in institutional holdings.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
