1980. Farbsiebdruck. 54,5 x 74 cm. Ungerahmt. R. u. mit Bleistift sign. und dat. Bill 80, l. u. num. 89/99 sowie Blindstempel der Erker-Presse. - Künstler, Designer und Architekt, wichtigster Vertreter der Konkreten Kunst. B. studierte 1927-1929 am Bauhaus in Dessau. Seine Kunst zeigte er das erste Mal 1929 auf einer Ausstellung and bereiste das folgende Jahr Italien und Frankreich. Zwischen 1932 und 1936 war er in der Gruppe Abstraction-Création aktiv. Zudem war er Mitbegründer der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm; später hatte er einen Lehrstuhl an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Er stellte mehrfach auf der Documenta aus. Während seiner Karriere wurde B. mehrfach ausgezeichnet, u.a. erhielt er 1949 den Kandinsky Preis und 1968 den Zurich Art Preis.
