Lot 4326 | Maximilian Graf Verri della Bosia (1824 - 1909) oder Ernst von Barth zu Harmating (1849 - 1934) - Zweispitz für Generale, 1897 - 1912
Estimate value
€ 2 000
Bicorne hat of black mohair (edges somewhat rubbed), the ends with silver tassel filling on blue ground, on the side the silver star clasp surmounting the national cockade in silver and blue, underneath it the royal cockade introduced in 1897. The beautifully preserved light blue silk lining with imprint of the Munich court purveyor Joh. Zehme, ochre-coloured leather sweatband. In the original storage box (rubbed, minor tears, one cloth band incomplete) with manufacturer’s label of Joh. Zehme, wire handle. Rare historical object direct from family possession, in excellent condition.
The bicorne hat for generals was a special Bavarian feature, as the Prince Regent did not favour spiked helmets. The Captain General of the Hartschier Life Guards Maximilian Verri della Bosia was appointed General of the Infantry in 1889. Ernst von Barth zu Harmating was discharged as General of the Infantry in 1905.
