This artistically of very high quality head comes from the collection of a French noble house, and was since at least 1967 in their possession. This collection goes back to Évariste Regis Huc (1813 – 1860), a French missionary and Explorer, widely known for his Crossings of Mongolia, Tibet and China. He is also likely to be the first Europeans who reached 1846 Lhasa. Huc has laid the Foundation for this collection, which was detected in 1967 in a systematic and documented, however without further details of when the objects were acquired.
