First editions, presentation copies, each inscribed to the writer and editor Raymond Queneau in the year of publication.

Raymond Queneau was one of the first French writers that Henry Miller met in Paris, and the two became close during his time abroad: "Raymond fully appreciated Miller's originality, and Miller always took seriously what Raymond had to say ... Raymond was a loyal supporter of Henry's from the beginning, and wrote a glowing article about Tropic of Cancer and Black Spring in the December 1936 edition of La Nouvelle Revue Française" (Brassai).
