An interesting compendium of travels, illustrated with plates showing indigenous people and figures in local costume. The first 21 volumes include travel reports around the world, while the rest are divided geographically: Africa (volumes 22-30), Asia (31-37), America (38-42), Oceania (43), Europe (44- 46). In this copy the plates are bound in the final volume.

47 volumes including the final one gathering the plates, 8vo (204 x 125mm). Text volumes with woodcut vignettes on titles (apparently complete, but not subject to return as no reference collation has been found), 90 plates engraved by Choubard from drawings by L. Massard, F. Wachsmut and J. David finely handcoloured at the time (some spotting and light browning). Contemporary boards backed in calf decorated in blind and gilt (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: J.A. The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
