Japan. Edo Period. Early 19th century. Century Graceful figure of a young boar that is quietly asleep on a bed, etc
Maple leaves with small rocks sitting between which of the grasses sprout,
covered with Dew-drops, which are accentuated by deposits of silver, Shakudô and
Copper. Ivory, carved very fine, the fur, the leaf scars and tufts of grass in a subtle
engraved and dark accentuated. On the bottom of the rocks Kaigyo: signed Masatsugu.

Animal representations of well-known wood-Carver of Osaka, where he was born in 1818 and lived until
to its exchange in 1887 to Tokyo in the centre of export to foreigners, however, soon
again returned, and on 21. Jan. In 1892, at the age of 74 years in Osaka died, and also
is buried. H. 2,5 cm, L. 4cm. Condition A.
