Post lot text
Omar Ba's figurative aesthetic is built around memories and experiences of the past, expressing his interest in the symbolism of reality. Putting the notion of duality at the heart of his work, the artist affirms his dual identity built between Senegal and Switzerland. Between personal expression and political claims, history rubs shoulders with contemporaneity, the real world touches the imaginary and plunges us into a bestial and delicate universe by means of hybrid materials, from golden ink to chalk. While depicting a world of violence and conflict related to colonialism, Omar Ba celebrates the beauty and grandeur of the peoples of Africa, exploring the legacy of the African diaspora today.
