Uncut copy of the famous counterfeit edition of Palladio's princeps, printed in Venice around 1768 by Giambattista Pasquali financed by British consul and art collector Joseph Smith. Compared to the original edition, the present has simple initials and engraved illustrations rather than woodcuts.

4 parts in one volume, folio (351 x 262mm). Title for each part within an engraved architectural border, printer's device at the colophon, 218 illustrations in text, of which several full-page (dampstaining in the upper margin throughout the volume, occasional spotting). Modern half-vellum with marbled paper boards, title on old spine label preserved in a modern case.
