Part-printed document signed in black ink 'Charlie Parker', 19 May 1954, an agency retained copy of an American Federation of Musicians employment contract for an engagement at the Midtown Hotel, St. Louis, 2-10 July 1954, specifying the wages '$1000 for engagement less commission to Gale Agency Inc.', the working hours '9:30 PM-2:30 AM FRIDAYS & MONDAYS THROUGH THURSDAY, SAT: 4:00-7.00PM, 9:00 PM-1:00 AM', and other terms and conditions of employment, with a stapled-on carbon-copy typescript rider slip similarly signed.



One page, 279 x 214 mm, and one slip, 120 x 216 mm, each with Parker’s signature at lower right; accompanied by a letter of provenance from Norman Saks. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl. 63a).
