Entwurf um 1950, Ausführung 1988. Rosa Portugal Marmor. Gruppe: H. 78 cm, grau gefasster Holzsockel: H. 42 cm. Das Thema 'Mutter und Kind' setzte Schumann seit 1950 in verschiedenen Materialien und Größen um. Der Gruppe liegt eine geschlossene Gesamtkonzeption zugrunde, die der Künstler selbst als 'Eiform' oder 'Urform' bezeichnete. - Großformatige Ex. im Öffentl. Raum befinden sich in Hamburg (Hausbruch) oder im Park der NordArt in Büdelsdorf - Literatur: Karrer, Siegfried. Pierre Schumann, Skulpturen in Marmor und Bronze. Salzburg, 2003, S. 72/73 (mit Abb. vergleichbarer Ex.) - Provenienz: Sonderanfertigung 1988 für eine Privatslg., Nordrhein-Westfalen - Deutscher Bildhauer. Ausbildung an der Hochschule f. Bildende Künste Hamburg unter E. Scharff und an der Stuttgarter Akademie bei O. Baum, 1954-1964 hielt er sich in Paris auf. Seit 1955 freischaffend in Hamburg im Atelier am Lerchenfeld, 1974 Übersiedlung nach Sagau-Kassedorf bei Eutin tätig, seit 1964 weiteres Atelier in Carrara. - Schumann schuf Plastiken und Wandgestaltungen, sein bevorzugtes Material war Marmor.
