The Tapestry Hangings of the House of Lords: representing the several engagements between the English and Spanish fleets in the memorable year 1588. London: J. Pine, 1739.
Brunet, IV, col. 665 ; Shane McMurray, "Prints, politics & peers. John Pine’s tapestry hangings of the House of Lords", Royal Museums Greenwich [Online] ; Berlin Kat. 1677.
Grand in-folio (535 x 373 mm).
Copy with the plates handcoloured and heightened in silver and gold by a contemporary hand. Pine's publication is of considerable historical importance, since the original tapestries, designed by Hendrik Vroom and woven by Francis Spring of Haarlem, were destroyed by fire in 1834. The original cartoons being also long lost, these engraved views are a most vital visual record of the original artworks.
