Brillant exemplaire, réglé en rouge et vert, en maroquin de l'époque signé Derome.
Beau volume issu des presses de Philippe-Denis Pierres, premier imprimeur de Louis XVI. Il est orné d'un portrait-frontispice allégorique et d'un portrait de Jacques Amyot.
La traduction de Plutarque par l'helléniste Jacques Amyot est regardée comme un des chefs-d'oeuvre de la prose française du XVIe siècle. Cette édition n'avait pas échappé à Vicaire (col. 700-701), de même que c'est le seul traité de Plutarque qu'il ait retenu (Livres en bouche, 76, pour l'édition de 1572).
Les soixante chapitres du traité consignent les réflexions du philosophe grec sur la médecine et l'hygiène. L'étude des moeurs et de la table attiques occupe les 80 premières pages.
Exemplaire enrichi d’un petit portrait d’Amyot gravé et monté sur un feuillet blanc. Faux-titre relié après le titre, et feuillet de dédicace relié par erreur après l’Avertissement. Vicaire, 701.
In-8 (200 x 125 mm). Illustré d'un portrait-frontispice de Jacques Amyot gravé par Ponce d’après Marchand (pâles rousseurs éparses, plus prononcées sur le titre et le frontispice). Reliure signée Derome le jeune, avec son étiquette : maroquin vert, roulette dorée en encadrement, roulette dorée sur les coupes, dos lisse orné, dentelle intérieure dorée, tranches dorées (dos légèrement passé).

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
