A curious and fascinating work in a fine binding signed by Riviere containing 10 plates of humorous character in contemporary handcolouring which show the vicissitudes of army life including diet, drunkenness and discipline as displayed by the higher ranking orders of the militia. Little is known about this work which is preserved as a single black and white sheet in the British royal collections.
8vo (225 x 152mm). 10 hand-colored plates. Fine binding by Riviere in light leather decorated in gilt on covers, spine, inlays and edges, elegant dark endpapers; preserved in a matching marbled paper case (light wear to case).
